What is therapy?

Therapy is a process of discussing issues that are causing distress for a person/s in their relationships at home, work, school, socially, or within the community. The purpose of treatment is to promote mental wellness in a person’s life. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) mental wellness is  “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” To assist in treatment goals, we will focus on 4 lenses: cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal; to help reduce, eliminate, or cope with issues. 


Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life. 

 

Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing. 

 

Stress Management

As a busy professional, leader, or student striving for your next degree it may be  difficult to manage stress. We will work together to identify triggers and establish strategies that will help you achieve the goals you are striving for. 

Healthier Relationships with Self and Others

Healthy relationships start with having a healthy relationship with yourself. We will focus on building your self esteem, confidence, and inner peace. Once these have been established then we will work on how to create healthy relationships with others. Healthy  relationships involve honesty, trust, boundaries, respect and open communication between partners and they take effort and compromise from both people. There is no imbalance of power. Partners respect each other's independence, can make their own decisions without fear of retribution or retaliation, and share decisions
