In 2018 as a new graduate, I spent my weekdays working for county mental health and my weekends working for a private practice. Even though I was equipped with theories, interventions, trainings, and the foundation of how to provide therapy. I still found that I was missing how individuals got from point A to Z in their healing journey. More importantly I was missing a working formula for client success in creating mental wellness. I realized that I shared this same dilemma with many of my peers. I noticed that the lack of structure provided opportunities for increased burn out, compassion fatigue, limitations in client goal attainment, and client dropout. Which made so many of my peers, and even myself, question our ability to be therapists or if we could truly help people altogether.
Each therapy session I had from that day forward became my training ground. It was a time for me to really recognize how people moved from a point of self-doubt to confidence, from despair to hopefulness. From a point of sacrifice to self-preservation and a point of feeling insignificant to feeling powerful. I knew if I could give my clients and others this tool, this wisdom, then they could truly start to heal from any baggage they were carrying from their past. I began to look at the therapeutic process from a perspective of emotional, mental, and spiritual healing versus solely cognitively, specific mental health disorders, or the stages of development. Of course, not to discount the underpinnings of my own educational background but to truly go into depth on what I envisioned the “how of healing” to be for individuals and even myself. Each bit of knowledge revealed greater insight about human experiences, the universal laws, and the intrinsic power we all possessed. Two things were born from my curiosity and mission of empowerment. First, the trajectory of treatment and how individuals got from point A to Z, which is known as Awareness, Alignment, and Action. Second, what steps are needed for people to get there, which is known as the E.M.P.O.W.E.R. Method.
I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold a Master of Social Work which I obtained at University of Southern California. I am trained and experienced in diagnosing mental health disorders and providing psychotherapy for individuals, families, and couples.
